Mountain Valley Pipeline (MVP)
The Mountain Valley Pipeline (MVP) project will be constructed and owned by Mountain Valley Pipeline, LLC, Series A (MVP Joint Venture) – a joint venture of Equitrans Midstream Corporation; NextEra Capital Holdings, Inc.; Con Edison Transmission, Inc.; WGL Midstream MVP LLC; and RGC Midstream, LLC. Designed to transport clean-burning natural gas from the prolific Marcellus and Utica shale regions to the growing demand markets of the mid-Atlantic and southeastern regions of the United States – the MVP is a 42-inch diameter pipeline that will traverse roughly 303 miles, extending from Equitrans’ existing transmission and storage system in Wetzel County, West Virginia to Transco Station 165 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia.
With a capacity of up to 2 billion cubic feet per day fully subscribed under long-term contracts with a diverse group of shippers, the MVP will serve as essential energy infrastructure that will ensure American families have reliable, affordable access to domestic energy, while also assuring national energy security and helping to achieve state and national goals for lowering carbon emissions. Further, the MVP Joint Venture has committed to making MVP one of the nation’s first interstate natural gas transmission lines to fully offset its operational emissions and has committed funding to preserve more than twice as many acres of land as will be utilized for the long-term operation of the 303-mile pipeline.
The MVP Joint Venture is targeting to complete project construction and flow gas for the upcoming winter heating season. Once in-service, Equitrans Midstream, primary interest owner, will operate the pipeline.
